Being an introduction to Nathan Schluter and his blog
I suppose the initial point of this blog was to showcase my work, to say “I’m hirable” to any potential employers out there looking for a competent writer with a Garfield-esque attitude toward life (without the penchant for Lasagna, sadly).
The more I’ve worked on putting it together—a surprising amount of work and neuroticism has gone into it, writing and re-writing About Me sections, choosing a theme and a tone, rejecting said themes and tones, brainstorming content ideas, dillying and dallying ad nauseam—the more I wanted it to be a place where I can reside in some ways; a place to be Nathan, professionally and unprofessionally.
If you’re here (assuming it isn’t by pure accident), then you may be looking to see my work or searching for some connection across the great divide between one person and another (or some other pretentious nonsense). Either way, I hope you’ll find those things here.
Like all of us silly humans, I have a variety of interests, which I may explore here. They include but are not limited to:
- Books
- Short stories
- Poetry
- Music (in addition to being a lover of listening to music, I’ve been known to play on occasion, rather poorly in my opinion and quite majestically in my mother’s).
- Photography, because of course who isn’t interested in photography these days?
- Movies, although it’s my brother who is really the film buff. Maybe he should guest-author some posts here?
- Clothing
So, if I look back at that list and try to make a judgement about what this blog may contain, it looks like it may be thoughts on books, short stories and poetry of my own, rumination on music, perhaps a poorly composed photo or two, and maybe even some nonsense about movies I like or clothing I wear. I guess we’ll just have to see where it goes.
I’ll try to avoid treating the blog as my personal journal, to notate any and every random thought that occurs to me. As interesting as they may be to me, I doubt my every thought will prove to be truly blog-worthy. But if I wax sentimental, who can blame me? It’s my blog after all. I’m allowed to fill it with drivel if I want.
But I’ll do my level best to make it readable drivel, if such a thing exists.
Want to send me a kind word, tell me I suck or that I’m a total ripoff of so-and-so down the way? Or maybe you think my writing is just okay enough that you may want to work with me?
Feel free to drop me a line. I’ll be around.
